Wine Tasting – Constantia Valley

Wine tasting is one of the best ways to socialise and unwind.

For my birthday I invited a few of my closest friends to celebrate with me. I organised a mini bus and a driver to take us around the Constantia Wine Valley.

It was a beautiful day and all my friends dressed up smartly. I especially asked the guys to suit up as they all usually walk around barefoot and in a pair of shorts, coming from Kommetjie it is the norm as most of them are surfers.

Our first stop was Groot Constantia. We all sat down at a table inside as it was much cooler inside because of the old cape style walls. We had a lovely german lady tell us about all the wines that we tasted. After the 5th or 6th tastings, we went outside for a few photographs with the amazing vineyards as the backdrop.

The next stop was Buitenverwachting , a very upmarket wine estate. We ventured out into the courtyards where we sat at the fountain and enjoyed soaking up a bit of sun. At this stage everyone was in a very good mood and we were all eager to visit the next estate.

Steenberg wine estate was our third and final stop. We all sat at the bar this time. Steenberg has recently renovated so the tasting room was filled with modern art that gives off a awesome atmosphere (especially the artwork chandelier hanging over the bar).

Once we all had enough we went up into the garden to relax in the shade and have a picnic. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.
